2016 marks a very special milestone for Spinks as we embark on our 90th year in the home improvement sector.
A lot has changed in the world over the past 90 years; prime ministers have come and gone, shuttles have been launched into space, vehicles have significantly been developed and there are too many technological advances to mention – but one thing that has stood the test of time is Spinks!
Since establishing in 1926, our success can be pin pointed down to our core values, that we have ensured have remained the same – that we only offer the finest products and to continually build relationships with both suppliers and customers.
As a family run business, originally formed as an Ironmongers and plumber’s merchant we have developed our offering and expanded in line with customer demand.
We now employ more than 100 people across our Doncaster, Sheffield and Worksop sites and offer tradesmen and the public a selection of bathroom, kitchen, home office and bedrooms showrooms, plumbing and heating trade counter and a large builder’s merchant for construction projects of all sizes.
Matthew Harrison, joint managing director said: “I would put our 90-year success down to being a reliable company, be it for the public to buy the best products for their home improvement projects or for the trade to access materials for projects at competitive rates with quick turnarounds.
“We have always been based in Doncaster, but over the years have expanded our offering to Sheffield and Worksop, with other locations in the pipeline this year.
“My grandfather back in the day was given the opportunity to buy shares in the company on his return home after serving in the second world war and I don’t think he would have ever have been able to imagine the success the company would see and continues to see moving forward.
“We have a talented team working on both the consumer and trade sides of our business, bringing customers back to Spinks time and time again. It is this dedication that makes us one of the biggest home improvement names in recent years, and I for one am very excited about the future of the company.”
